I came to Pilates weakened and tired, but I wasn’t ready for change, I was looking for a band-aid to patch me up for my next crazy physical adventure. I can tell you I didn’t buy it…it was too slow, the movements were small, and I was not breaking a sweat! Something told me to keep going to class, and within a couple of weeks my body and my work changed. The ideas and pedagogy began to make sense to me.

Change that happens slowly, and with attention to oneself and one’s needs is the best kind of change. The body likes it, the brain has time to assimilate it, and stripping the layers of bad patterning takes time. Pilates gives answers and asks questions, it’s too hard and it’s too easy, but whatever you do, if you conciliate your muscles and your bones with the will of your brain something about you will change.

I have trained celebrities, Pro-Athletes (Rowers, Figure Skaters) pre-professional Ball players, and Dancers, it’s fun…but the most challenging moments I’ve had as a teacher are when I’m teaching people who need the Pilates method. Regular people struggling biomechanically with life as we seem to have to live it these days.

My clients receive a physical education. They ask good questions and challenge themselves. They feel better, function better and take responsibility for their health and well-being through this approach to fitness.
